“True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than that – it is spiritual transaction with the Creator of Heaven and Earth.” – Charles Spurgeon
A few years ago, Capetonians were watching our dams run dry. Today, praise God, our dams are full and some are overflowing. We have learnt the worth of lifegiving water, and even now, many of us still collect our shower water for reuse. We still have some restrictions on garden watering and many people have chosen the route of waterwise gardening.
Yet in other parts of South Africa, the drought still persists. Parts of Mpumalanga and Limpopo are hardest hit. The government has granted millions in drought relief in an attempt to assist the people suffering through the drought.
This week, please pray:
- Giving thanks for the rain that has fallen in our area, filling the dams with life giving water
- For responsibility in the use of this lifegiving resource, that we may have sufficient for our needs
- For those involved in the planning for and establishing new water sources for Cape Town and the rest of South Africa, be it through dams, seawater or underground aquifers
- For other areas in South Africa in drought and in desperate need of rain to fill their dams
- For the Environmental Scientists and Ecologists who work tirelessly to get authorities to slow down the processes that lead to climate change.
- For the people suffering from the effects of the floods in Texas and in South Korea
Lord, we thank you that you are the fountain of living water that flows within us. May the water of life also flow over our parched and dry land. Amen
